This week vigil light is offered to God by the Kolesnik and Buciak families for a Special Intention

From October 10 to October 14 the rectory office will be closed. Father Iura will be away for Clergy Days.

If you would like to have Confession, Holy Communion and prayer of the sick at your house or nursing home, please call the rectory at 203-865-0388.

We will be making pyrohy (pierogi, varenyky) for regular orders on October 15. We need your help on Friday to peel potatoes and Saturday to make pierogis. Please come and help.

FOOD DONATIONS for those in need: A container is in our church vestibule for non-perishable food. This collection will be taken twice per month. Father Iura will distribute the food to the Little Sisters of the Poor who have offered to help in the Ukrainian crisis. Thank you for your generosity and your support.

PYROHY available for sale. There will be pyrohy (pieroigi-varenyky) for sale in the church hall as long as supplies last. $16.00 FOR 2 dozen.

Free for students Ridna Shkola, altar boys and for children under 12 . We will be running a raffle. If you would like to donate any items to be raffled, please bring them to our church hall on Sundays before our Feast Day. Also we ask donations for dessert. We will not sell tickets at the door.

Sept. 24th Open House for Ukrainian School/Nursery School, 569 George St., New Haven. A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 for our Children. Refreshments and meeting with parents and teachers to follow in the church hall. Classes will start immediately thereafter. Children aged 8-12 will be accepted to the School. The nursery school has 3 groups as follows: ages 2-3 years of age – the youngest group; ages 3-5 years of age –the middle group; ages 5-6 years of age –preschool/ oldest group. This year we plan to offer Ukrainian dance instruction under the director of Mr. Orlando Pagan for children 7 years and older. Details to follow. PARISH COFFEE HOUR: Dear parishioners and guests, after each Divine Liturgy, a social hour with coffee and hard rolls and assorted snacks are available in the church hall. Please feel free to join us.

A nursery school program for children 2-5 years old is also part of the curriculum. Instruction will be primarily in Ukrainian language with accommodations for English. ST. MICHAEL’S HERITAGE CENTER GIFT SHOP: We are in the process of revitalizing and restocking our Gift shop as part of our overall effort to generate needed funds. THE DORMITION FAST: From August 1 to August 14, we Byzantine Catholics prepare for the feast of the Dormition (Assumption) of the Holy Theotokos, the Mother of God, with a period of prayer, fasting and works of charity. Five (5) tips for a successful Dormition: Fast, Go to Church, Pray, Fast from meat and sin, Read a spiritual book, Confess your sins. The feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God is on Monday, August 15.

Stefania Kolos reposed in the Lord

We are sad to announce that Stefania Kolos, 75, reposed in the Lord and the consolation of the Mysteries (sacraments) of the Church on 16 July 2022.

Stefania was the beloved wife of 54 years to Nicholas and the mother of Kristina Kolos, Natalie Erickson, and Peter Kolos. She was active in the Ukrainian community.

The wake will be held on Friday, 22 July, 5-7pm, at Lupinski Funeral Home, 821 State Street, New Haven. The Panachyda Service at 6:30pm.

The Divine Liturgy will be served at the parish on Saturday, 23 July at 9:30am, followed by interment at Beaverdale Cemetery, 90 Pine Rock Avenue, Hamden.

We are collecting medical equipment and supplies for the Lviv Regional Hospital for soldiers and war veterans in Vynnykiy (Lviv Region) to be used for the treatment of soldiers and civilians injured during war in Ukraine. We also need funds to purchase boxes packaging materials, cover transportation expenses, etc. We are working with UUARC (United Ukrainian American Relief Committee based in Philadelphia-UUARC.org) to transport all donated items to Warsaw for transport by truck to the hospital in Vinniki. All donated items can be dropped off at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church hall at 569 George St., New Haven. The collection center will be open on Tuesdays from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Sundays from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
