Donations for the Ukrainian Relief Project

The donations for humanitarian aid and for the soldiers continue to arrive.  And we expect more to arrive in the days and weeks ahead. Thanks be to God.

A truck of medical supplies is leaving tomorrow (God willing) by truck to the greater Philadelphia/New Jersey area. I know that some aid is going for free, but the bulk of it costs good money to ship. For example, the cost per pound to get to  its destination in Ukraine is approximately $2.30. That adds up to a lot of dollars per box.

We are in the process of setting up a GoFundMe page but that will take a few days with all the paperwork. In the meantime, if you would like to send a check, please send it:

Ukrainian Relief Project –UPDATE for March 7, 2022

Today we received your generosity with an open and grateful heart for the people of Ukraine. As you can see from the pictures attached here you can see abundance.

We are very thankful to all the people who made donations during these couple days.

We even didn’t expect so many people will respond and consequently we are trying our best to organize ourselves to move the gifts on to Ukraine.

For the moment, we are stopping collecting donations.

However, we still to collect First Aid supplies, aspirin, Tylenol, and saline solution.

There is an expense with shipping all of these things and we are gratefully accepting monetary gifts, no amount is too small! The money collected will go to the packing and shipping.

Stay tuned as to when we accept humanitarian aid.

Requesting donations for Ukrainian Humanitarian Aid through Monday, 3/7

We are collecting humanitarian aid packages for Ukraine. Items should be delivered this week to St Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in New Haven by Monday, March 7, 2022 or Ukrainian National Home of Hartford by Monday, March 7, 2022–see addresses below (Or as soon as you can-there will be another shipment arranged later.)

NOTE WELL: This humanitarian collection is different from what is being collected for the soldiers. THAT list is found here. We need wheelchairs for the wounded soldiers.

Items needed are listed below. We also will need money for shipping this week’s items. Any amount you can donate for shipping also will be greatly appreciated.

MEEST IS ACCEPTING HUMANITARIAN AID PACKAGES FOR UKRAINE

Any individual or organization can bring in packages with humanitarian aid to any Meest office or agent.. All packages will be delivered into Lviv and dispersed to relevant Ukrainian relief organizations.

• Maximum weight of each package is 30kg

• Everything will be going by air

• Estimated delivery time is 5-10 days from the date of shipment

• We need 100% description of goods in each package

• We will need an estimated value for each package

• We are offering a heavily discounted rate of $2.30 per lb to cover our costs

Priority Items for humanitarian relief 🇺🇦📦:

• Non-perishable food – BIG DEMAND

• Clothes and footwear for men/women/children

• Thermal underwear

• Hygiene products (women’s products, diapers, etc.)

• Blankets

• Bedding

• Table wear (disposable)

• First aid and first aid kits

• Tents, mattresses, sleeping bags

• Standalone lamps

• Candles

• Containers for liquids (canisters for water, fuel, lubricants with capacity of 10-20 liters)

Please refrain from sending any restricted items, including but not limited to:

• Alcohol and any products with alcohol
• Perishable foods
• Knives
• Batteries
• Aerosols
• Compressed air and gas cylinders
• Camping stoves
• Matches
• Perfumes/aftershave
• Illegal drug

Please note, due to the escalating situation in Ukraine, we can no longer accept regular packages to Ukraine. We will only accept humanitarian aid.

We are willing to work with any and all organizations in collecting and distributing humanitarian aid in Ukraine. Meest has logistical and warehousing resources in Poland and our team can assist in efforts to source and package humanitarian relief boxes. A Light in Darkness as a sign of hope

As a sign of hope in darkness, place one (1) electric candle in the window of your home, and be sure to have it lit each night for the duration of the war. The one candle will show our solidarity with the everyone in Ukraine.

This is a sign of our hope and expectation for peace.

Sunday note to benefactors on the Ukrainian Relief efforts

Many thanks to those of you who generously gave of time and talent and humor today to assist the cause of helping the Ukrainian soldiers. The whole experience was a testament to the beauty of humanity. Thank you!

The church hall will be open for these times this week:

Monday and Tuesday: 5-7 p.m.
Saturdays: 10am-2 p.m.
Sundays: Noon -1:30 p.m.

This week the priority is to box up as much as possible to send to the shipping company.

****An official with the Ukrainian Veterans identified today a critical need: wheelchairs. So, at least for this week, we are looking for wheelchairs.

Christ is among us!

This week vigil light is offered by Family in memory of Frances Dmyterko.

If you would like to have a Confession, Holy Communion or prayer of the sick at your house or nursing home, please call the rectory at 203-865-0388.

We have FROZEN PYROHY for sale in the church hall $10.00 for two dozen.

The parish Knights of Columbus Council will be meeting in the Holy Name Room on Monday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m.

SOROKOUSTY will be celebrated during Lent in All Souls’ Saturdays, March 12, 19, 26 and June 4. Please take a book found in the entrance of the church, fill it out, place it in envelope, and drop it in the collection basket. Let us remember all our loved ones who have gone to their heavenly reward. Eternal Memory!

A container is in our church vestibule for non-perishable food. This collection will be taken every week or twice per month. Father Iura will distribute the food to those in need. Thank you for your generosity.

The Ukrainian School of New Haven is pleased to inform you that The New School Year 2022 has begun. If you have any questions for students of Elementary School please contact Halia Lodynsky at 203-494-6278. For students Middle School call Volodymyr Dumalskyy at 203-988-2923. A nursery school program for children 2-5 years old is currently ongoing. Instruction will be primarily in Ukrainian language with accommodations for English.
