Ukrainian Relief Project New Haven needs help Friday, 5/6

We now have a vehicle available to transport all of our boxes to Dnipro in NJ this coming Saturday, May 7th.

Mykola Blyzniuk will be bringing his truck to the church hall Friday evening , May 6, so we can load it up and make it ready to deliver to the Dnipro warehouse on Saturday morning.

From there, it is going by plane to Ukraine.

Three aspects of help needed:

1.) We are in need of some strong people to join us at the church hall 3pm on Friday to begin moving all of the boxes to the staging area and then, when the truck arrives, piling them up on pallets in the truck and wrapping them for the trip.

2.) We need some people to check off the numbers of the packages that are loaded into the truck so that we can confirm that everything that is on the master inventory list is accounted for before the truck leaves the church.

3.) We need help out with loading the 559 boxes and 167 pieces of equipment on the truck when it arrives that will be sent to Ukraine next week.

RSVP.

Peace for Ukraine

Night For Ukraine fundraiser

The pastor of the BE Free Church in Branford has organized an event in support of Ukraine. The church is hosting a Night For Ukraine fundraiser for United For Ukraine group to do a little good in overwhelming circumstances.

Pastor David has written to invite us to attend and be blessed as we plan to highlight Ukraine culture by various speakers, desserts, and music. It is April 29th, 630-8PM at 231 Leetes Island Road. They’ll have a kids area as well.

More information can be found here http://branfordefc.com/night-for-ukraine/

Helping Refugee Ukrainian Families

Several of you have expressed a desire to host a refugee family from Ukraine. The good news is that there is progress with US Law, but as it is said, it is complicated.

Through a friend of our community, Dana Bucin, Honorary Consul of Romania to Connecticut, I will circulate some guidelines soon. She is in the process of creating the guidelines.

Another note, you may have seen the interview Dana gave just a few minutes ago on Channel 8 News.

When I get the guidelines from Dana Bucin, I will forward it to you. Together we will find a way to assist in this work of Mercy.

UPDATE for Ukrainian Relief Project New Haven, April 21, 2022

Dear Friends,

I hope this email finds you well. The sun is a welcomed gift for me and my honey bees.

We have to reschedule the Ukrainian Relief Collection Day that was due to happen this coming Saturday. Getting relief materials to Ukraine in a quick and cost effective way has been a challenge. Philadelphia is a complicated place. We are working on getting a container delivered to the church.

We are looking to resume on May 7th.

Financial donations are very, very much needed. Moving the physical items is a significant burden. 100% of the donations received go to the Ukrainian Relief Project: https://givesendgo.com/G2ZXR

Your patience is appreciated.

Some of our volunteers working to help our Ukrainian brothers and sisters.
We are grateful for their time, talent and humor in this great effort.

This is only a portion of our volunteers for the Ukrainian Relief Project New Haven! So many more help in their own communities and come to St Michael’s to deepen the collaboration and coordination.

May God reward them for their good work.

Ukrainian Relief Project New Haven for March 27

We are preparing for the great feast of Easter in the coming weeks. Palm Sunday is April 10 and Easter is April 17.

Just prior to that, St Michael’s parishioners are making our famous pierogi (pyrohy) on April 9.

The leadership of the Ukrainian Relief Project New Haven indicated the following schedule for collection dates this week:

Tuesday, March 29, 5-7 p.m.
Saturday, April 2, 10-2 p.m.
Sunday, April 3, Noon -1 p.m.
and, then the collection will be closed until Saturday, April 23rd.

We need to package the medical and humanitarian supplies on April 4 and 5 and to clean the church hall.

A call for volunteers will be made on Sunday, April 3, after we survey the need.

Thank you for your generosity in giving and in time volunteering. ALL is very much appreciated.

May the Lord bless you with eternal life.
