2018 Christmas Bazaar opens

The 2018 Christmas Bazaar Ukrainian Heritage Center

The Ukrainian Heritage Center’s Christmas Bazaar will be held on Saturday December 8, Sunday December 9, Saturday December 15 and Sunday December 16 in the Heritage Center Gift Shop from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. This offers you an excellent opportunity to purchase, at very reasonable prices, the Ukrainian gifts and cards (for Christmas and other special occasions) that you would like to give to family members, friends, co-workers or the teachers of your children.

On Sundays only, please enter the Heritage Center through the front door of the building.

PHILIP’S FAST, ПИЛИПІВКА, the pre-Christmas fast which began on November 15 – the day after the feast of St. Philip – is a 40 day period of spiritual preparation for the celebration of the Nativity/Theophany cycle of the church year. It was once a period of strict fasting which has now been changed to a period of voluntary fasting and works of penance and charity.

Pyrohy Project: We will make Pyrohy on Saturday, December 15, 2018. We need your help to peel potatoes on Friday and to make Pyrohy on Saturday. Please come and help. See Walter Ushchak for more information.

If someone would like to buy a frozen pierogies (varenyky) during the week please call the rectory at (203) 865-0388.

STUFFED CABBAGE will be available for Christmas by calling the rectory at 203-865-0388 and placing your order for either buckwheat, meat or mushroom stuffed cabbage. Please see Fr. Iura for details.

Parish Council meeting was held on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. Updates were given concerning the various ongoing projects in our parish. A round table discussion followed. The next meeting will be held on February 4, 2019. All parishioners are invited.

Wasyl Jureczko fell asleep in the Lord

On Friday, November 30, 2018, Wasyl Jureczko  fell asleep in the Lord. He was 92 and a longtime and faithful member of the Parish.

The funeral arrangements for Mr. Jureczko:

The Wake at Lupinski Funeral Home, 821 State Street, New Haven, on Monday, 8 – 9:15 a.m.

The Funeral Liturgy will be served at 10:00 a.m. at the Parish. Burial at All Saints Cemetery.

Please pray for the soul of Mr. Jureczko and his wife Mary who predeceased him, and for the comfort of his family and friends who mourn is passing. May Wasyl Jureczko’s memory be eternal.

STAMFORD EPARCHY CHARITIES APPEAL

REMINDER: Please don’t forget to donate for the Charities Appeal. Please make your check payable to the BYZANTINE RITE DIOCESE OF STAMFORD.  DO NOT MAIL THE FORM TO THE CHANCERY OFFICE IN STAMFORD. We sincerely ask all parishioners to make generous contributions.

Parish Council meeting: will take place on Monday, December 3, at 6:00 p.m. in the Holy Name Room. Topics: Update on the Church parking lots, updates on handicap ramp for the church hall, physical plant improvement, a general update on the State of the Parish, review plans for calendar of events for the balance of the year. All members are invited.

SESTRECHI: the next regular monthly meeting will be held on Sunday, December 2, after the 9:00 a.m. Divine Liturgy. The meeting will be held in the church hall classroom. There will be an Akathist to the Mother of God will be prayed prior to the Liturgy.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS: The Knights of Columbus Blessed Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Council will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, December 3, after the Parish Council meeting. All men of the parish are invited to attend.

VIGIL LIGHT: This week vigil light is offered to God’s greater glory by Chris Komondy all deceased of Komondy family.

The Ukrainian Ridna Shkola has started classes. Instruction takes place each Saturday from 9:30-11:30. Religious instruction is from 11:30-12:30. Special thanks to Halia Lodynsky for her ongoing work with our children. For more information please contact her at 203-494-6278.

St. Michael’s Day will be celebrated on November 11. On this day we will have only one (1) Divine Liturgy at 10:30 a.m. After the Divine Liturgy, we will have a dinner and short program. All parishioners are cordially invited to this celebration. Tickets are available through Miss Luba Dubno. Tickets are $25.00 for adults, $10.00 for youth between 14 and 18. Free for students Ridna Shkola, altar boys and for children under 12. We will be running a raffle. If you would like to donate any items to be raffled, please bring them to our church hall on Sundays before our Feast Day. Also we ask for donations for dessert.

Natalie Fedoriw-Cybriwsky Asleep in the Lord

On Wednesday morning, October 3, 2018, Natalie Fedoriw-Cybriwsky, fell asleep in the Lord. She was 96 years old.

The wake Tuesday, October 9, 2018, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Panachyda will be at 7 p.m.

Lesko and Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield, CT.

The Funeral Liturgy will be at the parish on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 10 a.m.
